Michael I. Johnson
Multidisciplinary Designer︎ Organized Chaos ︎ Digital Nomad
I’m a Detroit-based designer and CCS alumni with a foundation in traditional art and a practice that has grown across multiple creative disciplines, including typography, motion design, video, and brand development. My ability to move between creative forms has made me an adaptable thinker and maker, always focused on choosing the right visual language to bring ideas to life.
Through my recent work at, I’ve continued to develop community-centered storytelling that connects design with purpose. Creating across different mediums has reinforced my belief that strong creative work is both expressive and responsive, shaped by the needs of the story, the audience, and the moment.
Inspired by music and indie cinematography, I draw heavily from the storytelling legacy of Motown. Rhythm, mood, and emotion influence everything from my color choices to my overall design approach. I’m passionate about collaborating with other creatives who believe in experimentation, authenticity, and using art and design to express something real.
